Why?

"Why?" I cried out to my Lord
"I just don't understand!"
"Just wait, My child," He whispered
And gently took my hand

"But I need a reason, God," said I
"It would be easier if I knew."
"You may not see it now," He said
"But it's enough, my love, that I do."

"You cannot see the future,
Or the necessary tests
Required, though painful
To make you your very best

"Take me," you once asked Me
You wanted to be My clay
Now at your word I'll now take you
As down on your knees you pray

So hold on tight
I'm not yet quite through
Though the trials may be often rough
Know, My child, that I'll take care of you."

Silent and corrected,
I started to softly cry
"Patience, my child," He said then
"Soon I'll show you the answer to your 'why?'"
